Platform
Web sites are hosted on Web servers (high-powered computers with large hard drives that are connected to the Internet via a network.) The platform refers to the operating software (e.g., Unix, Linux, or Windows NT) the server uses. For static page Web sites, the choice of platform is of less importance than for dynamic page sites.
